Memphis rapper Yo Gotti continues to extend his run in the rap game and has added a fresh face to his growing Cocaine Muzik Group (CMG) in the form of hometown hip-hop artist Snootie.
Gotti and his crew broke the news to the masses Monday (October 28).
Today, CMG Enterprises CEO and CMG/Epic Hip Hop recording artist Yo Gotti has announced the signing of regional N. Memphis rap star Snootie to CMG’s growing roster of artists and his addition to Yo Gotti’s “I AM 2013 Tour” lineup. Snootie’s signing marks one of several upcoming roster additions CMG has in the works since the label’s recent entrance into a multi-level joint venture partnership with Epic Records. (Press Release)
YG has also issued a statement to explain what motivated the unexpected signing.
“Snootie has a distinctive sound and crazy buzz in the streets,” Yo Gotti commented. “We at CMG look forward to working with him and his team.” With his high powered single “YAYO,” the North Memphis breakout MC has propelled his widespread buzz well beyond Tennessee while organically taking mix show radio by storm throughout the south and beyond. Back in February, Gotti officially joined forces with music empire Epic Records.
“This is a solid partnership that allows me to do what I do on bigger platforms, with the respect and support of the Epic team. Throughout [Epic Chairman and CEO] L.A. Reid‘s career, I realize he has been a part of creating some of the biggest superstars in the industry. I feel there is no better person to partner with … A lot of labels were talking big checks, but the money didn’t interest me. I wanted a partner that wasn’t afraid to work as hard as I do. I knew that by sticking to my independent business mind frame and continuing to chase my dream, that the right situation was going to come.” (Complex)
Despite a close-knit relationship, the Memphis rapper denied inking a deal at T.I.‘s Grand Hustle label.
“No, no, no, T.I.’s the big homie. Salute T.I. and the Hustle Gang but I’m signed to myself, which is CMG,” Gotti said in an interview. “We got a partnership with L.A Reid and Epic. You know what I’m saying? That whole thing is like blogs just went crazy with it. They put their own words on something homie said and he ain’t even say that. You know what I mean? We get money, we rock together. It is what it is. CMG, Epic.” (Baller Alert)
