[After recently teaming up with Wu-Tang Clan's RZA for a sell-out "A Better Tomorrow" Boombotix speaker release, company executive Mustafa Shaikh tells SOHH what the future holds with the Wu and revealed plans to release an Ol' Dirty Bastard unit in the future.]
The first Wu-Tang Clan unit sold out pretty fast and we released a second unit and it’s out in stores and doing really well.
One thing we’re excited about is that the Wu-Tang relationship of building a speaker and putting content into that speaker, from a retail standpoint, it was extremely successful.
It has gotten other artists very excited about working with us. We have some artists that we’re not going to announce right now, we’ll probably wait until early summer.
One artist RZA already talked about was the ODB unit, we’re working with ODB’s estate on a Boombotix unit.
It’s kind of an exciting way for an artist to have another avenue of revenue in a time where so much content is either streamed on Spotify for fractions of a penny or you just download illegally online.
