After Miami Hospital Scare, Rita Ora Lands Steamy Mega Movie Role

Roc Nation songstress Rita Ora sent waves of concern after being hospitalized last month in Miami but the international star is not slowing down by landing a role in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film.

Details of her on-screen involvement have surfaced online via an official press release.

Rita Ora has been cast in Universal Pictures and Focus Features adaptation of E L James‘ best-selling novel “Fifty Shades of Grey.” She will play the role of “Mia,” the adopted younger sister of Christian Grey. Jamie Dornan will star in this hotly anticipated film adaptation in the iconic role of Christian Grey and stars opposite Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. Joining them in the cast are Eloise Mumford as Kate, Anastasia’s best friend and roommate; Luke Grimes as Christian’s brother, Elliot; Victor Rasuk as Anastasia’s close friend, José; Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother, Carla; and Max Martini as Christian Grey’s bodyguard and head of his security team, Jason Taylor. The Fifty Shades of Grey flick is expected to follow the same story as the popular novel.

Based on the bestselling book “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L. James, the movie follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Grey and college student Steele. The subsequent novels in the series are “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed.” The trilogy has been translated into 52 languages since its release and sold more than 90 million copies worldwide in e-book and print, making it one of the fastest-selling book series ever. Aside from the movie news, Rita worked up a scare after being hospitalized a few weeks ago following a photo shoot.

British pop singer Rita Ora — who had the hit song, “R.I.P.” — collapsed on the set of her photo shoot in Miami Beach today … and was rushed to a hospital by ambulance according to photographers on the scene. Photos show the 22-year old singer/model/actress — eyes closed — being unloaded from the ambulance on a stretcher … attended by emergency personnel. So far, no word on what may have caused her to collapse. Ora — who famously dated Rob Kardashian last year — was reportedly preparing for her photo shoot on the beach near the SoHo Beach House hotel when she fainted in her makeup trailer. (TMZ)

Much to her fans delight, Rita managed to leave the hospital after receiving treatment.

UPDATE: Rita Ora’s rep has confirmed her hospitalization to The Huffington Post. “Rita Ora was treated for heat exhaustion and dehydration at our hospital today,” Dr. David Farcy MD, Chairman of Emergency Department at Mount Sinai Hospital Miami tells us. “She was discharged and is fine.” (Huffington Post)
