[With fans still celebrating the recent birth of Macklemore’s newborn baby, SOHH recently talked to The Ollin Clothing’s Drew Curry, who previously worked with the Washington native, on what inspired his fashion line.]
It started with helping the kids. I was 15 when I went to India for the first time. At the time I wanted to be an architect. I wanted to do something creative, I just thought it would be with buildings.
I felt a conviction and a need to help right now. I didn’t want to wait until after school and college to then go back and help.
It was kind of the time when Toms was getting popular. I never thought the business and social non-profit aspect could come together. So it started with the kids and the need for them to go to school.
We could go on and on about the issues with it but it just started with the need. Then I think making dope clothes just comes with it. That comes as a part of the job.
I get to make cool clothes and help change lives.
