Mega record label Def Jam may want to invest some time in throwing a party for its roster of artists as Chicago's Lil Durk has become the latest to reveal an issue with the star-studded company.

This week, Durk revealed Def Jam may have been responsible for holding up a new mixtape release.

For an unsigned artist, the mixtape is a medium geared towards prolificacy. But when a rapper signs with a major label, many other people begin to get in the way of that artist-to-consumer relationship. So it is going for Lil Durk, who tweeted this morning that Def Jam has stopped him from releasing his new mixtape F*ckery, which was slated to hit the web yesterday. “DEFJAM told me not to drop a Mixtape” Of course, as Angel Haze and Danny Brown showed recently, there are ways to force a label’s hand. But with Durk’s fantastic July tape Signed to the Streets still percolating maybe it is best for him to take it slow. (Complex)

Last month, The LOX’s Jadakiss said the headaches he had experienced at Def Jam were no different than what fellow label mates Jeezy and Fabolous had gone through.

“Me, I’m always sitting on an album though,” Jada said when asked about his delayed solo album. “We’re always sitting on material. My situation over there at Def Jam is a different [complication]. Def Jam is different right now. I ain’t just speaking for myself. You can ask Fab, you can ask Jeezy, [Rick] Ross, you can ask Kanye, anybody. So it got to be right and it got to feel right. Until then, I’m just doing [my thing]. They got this new thing where it’s like you’re auditioning. I got a whole album. See, with that, it’s a lot of stuff people won’t ever heard. [Hot 97 executive] Pecas has been to the studio, he’s been up there, before [former Def Jam head] Joie left, he been up there. He knows what it is. But I don’t know what’s going on. I ain’t tripping, I’m just working. That’s all we do, make music. … Who don’t want to put their album out? I’m just not gonna pass it to you like it’s nothing. It’s not going to be a filler or a quota.” (Hot 97)

Recently, Dipset’s Juelz Santana posted a screenshot of Jeezy’s anti-Def Jam comments onto his Instagram page and added his own two cents.

“???????? SMH #SadButTrue it’s like being In Bed Wit A Bad Bi$$h But Can F*k her ????????#!! GodWillN2 #OnTheWay ?????????,” Juelz wrote November 19. (Juelz Santana’s Instagram)

In a brief Twitter rant, the Jeezy recently threatened to leak his own project if Def Jam did not get it together.

“where @LA_Reid when u need him #RIPShakirStewart,” Jeezy tweeted November 12.

“I been perfecting this album 2 years for #myfans”

“N*ggas @ @DefJamRecords keep playing games if you want!”

“If Def Jam don’t get this right y’all got an early xmas gift #myfans”

“This about that fans! That’s all!”

“Lucian and Barry boss up”

“or my fans gonna get an early xmas gift beeleedat #SNOWMAN” (Jeezy’s Twitter)
