We The Best’s DJ Khaled has revealed he is no longer signed to Cash Money Records following a publicized partnership with the popular company.

While there are no issues with Cash Money head Baby, Khaled said he is not on their books anymore.

“First off, those two guys, that’s family to me,” Khaled said in an interview. “Lil Wayne, that’s my brother. Birdman, that’s family. And at the end of the day, it’s not my business. I do pray for greatness and everything works out – I’m not signed to Cash Money at all. I’ve been off for a minute. I’m not here to promote that I’ve been off, that’s family. Lil Wayne and Birdman, that’s family.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Back in 2010, Khaled talked about joining Cash Money Records.

“It’s definitely official, and I’m just excited about the new deal with Cash Money. Shout to Birdman, Slim. And free Weezy.” Khaled said in an interview. “You know, I’ve always been a Cash Money member, not officially but I’ve been a fan forever…[Co-founder] Birdman always loved my work and passion. We’ve known each other for years, and he’s always told me when you fulfill your contract with E1 you always got a home over here. I was going to sign myself, but I called Birdman and he said ‘let’s get the deal done in an hour.’ He just wanted to make it happen.” (VIBE)

Khaled broke the news of the contract signing via Twitter in summer 2010.

“Its getting serious my lawyer theo and cash money lawyer vernin brown just landed from a helicopter to make this meeting! $wethebestforever,” he tweeted Thursday (August 19) afternoon. “This cash money we the best meeting is getting real interesting! http://tweetphoto.com/40064479. http://tweetphoto.com/40081399 DEAL IS DONE!!WE THE BEST YMCMB! See live footage from @Derick_G !! Hard work pays off! I’m on my way to the studio! WE THE BEST CASH MONEY ! FREE WEEZY! WETHEBESTFOREVER COMING SOON!” (DJ Khaled’s Twitter)

The contract came weeks after Khaled’s Miami affiliates Cool & Dre sealed their own deal with Cash Money.

“In 2011 it’s all about diversifying your talent and aggressively pursuing opportunities,” Andre “Dre” Lyon said in a statement. “It’s not about replacing legends and their accomplishments, it’s about creating a new legacy to inspire future young business men and women. Catch you at the Heat games, Wade let’s get it!” Cool & Dre experienced success with Cash Money in the past, having produced tracks for Lil Wayne, Birdman and Young Money. (All Hip Hop)
