There is no beef brewing between hip-hop producer DJ Premier and rap newcomer Lil Uzi Vert. The music pioneer has stepped forward to address perceived tension between them.

Premo went to Twitter Thursday (September 8) and said Uzi directly hit him up to squash any potential misunderstandings following recent comments he made.

This week, rapper Ab-Soul allegedly fired a shot at Uzi Vert on social media.

Some media outlets believe Ab’s remarks stemmed from Uzi Vert not rhyming over a Premo instrumental.

Soul-O is referencing an interview Uzi did with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning (included below) in which the “Money Longer” rapper refused to freestyle over the beat for Gang Starr’s “Mass Appeal.” “Oh he making me rap on that?” Uzi says when Ebro mentions the track. “I’m too young, I’m not into that.” Later on, when the discussion gets back to freestyling, Uzi says, “I’m telling you right now if you pull up one of them old beats I’m not rapping on it.” (XXL Mag)

No stranger to controversy, AS recently singled out rap veteran Jay Electronica for dissing his labelmate Kendrick Lamar.

During Ab’s set, he kicked a few bars a capella. He also went at Jay Electronica, rapping this line, “I was like a swami to Jay Electronica until he figured that Kendrick wouldn’t admit that he would body him for a milly.” (Complex)

    • It’s not about wether you would spit to its about respect .the people they calling old and thing like that laid the groundwork and opened a door for that bullshit they doing now.hip hop is dead and rap is the clone that has become a uncontrolled behemoth.owned by people trying to send a vibe of feminization, masculination and push the illicit drug envelope to the max.peace

  2. some old school beats are wack… yeah i get it ..your moist cause it was a beat from your youth…but that dont make it good for me. random word rap has a place. anybody remember early rap its wasnt super thought out.

    • Yes some beats are wack I admit and dated, that is not one that is wack though from the golden age.  Mass Appeal was dope, but if he doesn’t like it that is his thing and so be it.
