A$AP Ferg Doesn’t See Black & White: “Racism Been Over, It’s The Old People That Keep On Holding Onto It”

A$AP Mob's A$AP Ferg recently shared his thoughts on the state of racism and went as far as to say it's a generational issue.

In Ferg’s opinion, interracial relationships have helped wipe away the thought of racism.

“We all the same. That’s what it is about this culture of the Internet. Is everything is merged. There’s no racism with the Internet. Racism only was — is probably like five generations ago. Yeah. Racism is for—I wouldn’t say generations. Yeah, like five generations ago. Racism been over. It’s the old people that keep on holding on to it. We don’t hold on to that s—. We don’t know racism. We all like having—like my brother had white—my little brother had white girlfriends. And that’s regular, like.” (NPR)

Recently, TV personality Geraldo Rivera said hip-hop had been very destructive over the past decade.

“Hip-hop has done more damage to black and brown people than racism in the last 10 years. When you find the youngster, a Puerto Rican from the South Bronx or a black kid from Harlem, who has succeeded in life other than being the one-tenth of one-tenth of one percent that make it in the music business, that’s been a success in life walking around with his pants around his a** or with visible tattoos.” (“Huffington Post Live”)

Rivera also took aim at Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons.

“This whole ethos, and I love Russell Simmons – he’s a dear friend of mine, I admire his business acumen – at some point though, those guys need to cop to the fact that by encouraging this distinctive culture that is removed from the mainstream they have encouraged people to be so different from the mainstream that they can’t participate other than the racks in the garment center and those entry level jobs. I lament it; I really do. I think it’s been very destructive culturally.” (“Huffington Post Live”)

Last fall, R&B singer Jeremih resorted to his Twitter page to blast a restaurant over racism.

  1. So what he got to say about them white kids on the bus singing there will never be another nigger in sae

  2. I do agree that the many of the youth are color blind and some are leading the charge in current protests and marches.

This boy do sound retard though. May be I should discriminate against his speech and language disorder.

    • And that’s different from any other time how? Some white people were at the center of the Civil Rights’ movement too. Fact is that you still have just as many white people who now probably do it more privately because of the repercussions that just feel like they’re automatically better than minorities, especially black people. Just look at all the dumb shit that’s been said about President Obama in this day and age.

  3. White people love fools like this because they’re so ignorant. But hoes like him want their corporate entertainment Sambo dollars, so he gonna blame it on “the old people” keeping this alive. SMH. I personally know somebody I thought was a cool white chick back in college who was on Twitter talking about lynching n****z and shit because Obama won again a couple of years ago. I know I’m not old and I didn’t go to college 50 years ago. This stuff is ingrained in the white population, and black fools like this who try to put their heads in the sand about it are dumb as fuck.

  4. Just the politically correct answer.

Old generatio ndef the most racist tho, hes right about that

  5. Ferg you sound delusional! Just because you have a few white folks at your shows jumping around to your music don’t outnumber the majority others in this society that hate our ass

  6. When i give food to the poor they call me a saint but when i ask why they have no food they call me communist…America is obsessed with wanting to be better and title like your honor doctor shit like that….people feel that their contribution are greater and thus want more status leaving some one or field under appreciated and under paid….Example i respect garbage men because they provide a service to the whole community but many with degree jobs dont feel as though they should make the same pay or be thought of as smart….not being able to equal creates tension….

  7. dam ferg,,, a couple white girls and a Coachella spot got u thinking like this?,,brothers had that back at Woodstock too but they wasn’t talking da dumb sh*t u just said..all kinds of black folks rolling over in they grave, including trayvon and eric garner,,check da news son,,theres a million more stories like theirs dat didn’t make the news,,,(white)cops and non cops have made it open season on bros,,aint u from harlem?smh
