Late singer Aaliyah’s greatest hits album has suddenly vanished from Apple Music just hours after debuting on the digital giant.

According to reports, the crooner’s Ultimate Aaliyah faded to black from both Apple Music and retailer iTunes.

Ultimate Aaliyah has been removed from both Apple platforms, suggesting that the longtime legal dispute that has kept the popular ’90s R&B singer’s music from being available through online retailers is still ongoing. This is reportedly due to Aaliyah’s uncle Barry Hankerson, who managed the singer, and his refusal to release her music digitally, as explained in a Complex magazine feature just one month prior to the digital appearance of Ultimate Aaliyah. Hours prior, the singer’s biggest hit singles emerged across the streaming platform.

Ultimate, a seriously excellent collection of her greatest hits, has just appeared on Apple Music and the iTunes store. Stream it right here. And though it may seem trivial, it is a huge deal that her work has appeared in remastered form. Songs like “Try Again,” “One in a Million,” and “More Than a Woman” have long-deserved the iTunes treatment, and it posed a serious threat in withholding her work for so long thanks to legal issues with her estate. Back in August, Aaliyah’s ex-boyfriend Damon “Dame” Dash shared a personal message about her.

Earlier the same week, New York hip-hop artist Nas remembered Aaliyah’s life.
