Reason 4: The Experience

The fourth reason is because for geeks who may have seen me in bits and pieces can see me scream with a whole lot of hair. For film and television I’m sort of retired. I had agents who went out of business a few years ago and I didn’t bother to get new ones. So I’ve really focused on theater so when I got a call from a manager saying John Krasinski was interested in me, I said, ‘Send me the script,’ and I read it and fell in love with the script. I also tend to not want to do one day on a film. Usually it’s not worth my time or the money is not worth it. This worked because the script was the best I’ve read since The Big Lebowski and because I’m not a television and pop culture person, I knew John’s name and I knew he had been in ‘The Office’ but I didn’t really watch TV a lot. I didn’t quite know who I was dealing with. I had a ton of facial hair, sent him a photograph and he said, “Yeah, we want you. If you want to do it, welcome aboard.” I got to Upstate New York where they were shooting and saw him with makeup because he was doing lead. Most of our conversation was him telling me about how he watched Big Lebowski in high school and that’s how he thought of me. We got on the set and he had such ease. He wrote it and was directing and acting in it so he knew exactly what he wanted. He didn’t have to tell me much because we were both empathetically in the same place.
