Back in May, Davis hinted at things tensing up with his Floyd as his promoter.
Why everything I do this man want to tell Al everything, I buy something he wanna tell…I do something in my personal life he wanna tell..but don’t support me when I fight! SMH

A few months ago, Gervonta dished on how he feels about having Floyd promote him.
“We don’t have beef…We’re not seeing eye to eye…he traveling, doing him, and I’m doing me. I’m traveling. … [How long am I under contract?] Two years…I think I’m supposed to get like three fights. I mean, they been moving me right…Mayweather Promotions been moving me right, doing what they supposed to be doing with me. It’s just Floyd…” (Fight Hype)
Over the past year, boxing and sports sites have kept close tabs on Davis/Mayweather’s relationship.
Gervonta Davis saw his profile rise tremendously under the wing of Floyd Mayweather, who featured the fighter on the undercard of his bout with Conor McGregor which was a huge box office success. Davis would miss weight on that occasion however, forfeiting his IBF title despite still going on to knockout Francisco Fonseca. And although Davis lost his belt that night, Davis would find himself right back in title contention, fighting for the vacant WBA title on the Adrien Broner-Jessie Vargas undercard just last month. Mayweather was not seen in attendance, though. (Bad Left Hook)
