Ave’s attorney spoke out this week on his client being a victim in the shooting.

“In the hip hop world, he’s not known as one of these troublemakers. He doesn’t live a gangster rap lifestyle,” said attorney John Stella. “What really happened here is Mr. Collins here is the real victim,” said another Collins attorney, Scott Leemon. “The person who was killed at this event, he died a hero. He was his bodyguard. He wasn’t shot by Mr. Collins. He was a lifelong friend.” (NY Daily News)

Ave pleaded his innocence in the crime Monday (May 30).

A rapper charged in a deadly shooting at a New York City concert hall has pleaded not guilty. Rapper Troy Ave was arraigned Monday in connection with the shooting Thursday during a hip-hop concert featuring artist T.I. that killed one person and injured three others. (AP)
