New York rapper 50 Cent is out here telling secrets. The hip-hop veteran has dished on longtime mentor Eminem’s mighty return and why his Relapse 2 album never reached store shelves.
In a new interview with radio personality Big Boy, Fif said critics ultimately forced Em to fall back from putting out the late 2000’s project.
“Those critics being criticized about the music actually affect him. Because he’ll be completely focused on that the entire time. He didn’t take a day off. … Like, we had a whole ‘nother album. When he did Relapse [in 2009], he didn’t like the response so he didn’t even put out the whole Relapse 2 that we did already. If he doesn’t like the response to it, he can change it. But you know, as far as, I’ve never heard any new R&B singer come out and say, ‘Prince wasn’t hot.’ Now the new guys should pay homage because he’s a big reason for why we grew as big as we grew.
This week, Em teased fans about putting together the music video for his Revival single “River.”
Outside of teasing the new visual, Em has a busy 2018 on deck with various headlining music festivals.
A few weeks ago, speculation developed about Em and a few notable superstars like Beyoncé and The Weeknd coming through for this year’s Coachella.
Detroit rap icon Eminem, pop music queen Beyoncé, and R&B crooner The Weeknd are set to headline the 2018 edition of Coachella, industry sources tell Consequence of Sound. America’s preeminent music festival returns for its 19th edition on April 13th-15th and April 20th-22nd at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. An official lineup announcement is expected in early January coinciding with the on sale of tickets. (Consequence of Sound)
