G-Unit leader 50 Cent recently offered his take on longtime friend Floyd Mayweather, Jr. remaining undefeated after a victorious win last weekend against boxer Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.
According to Fif, Floyd actually wanted to end the fight early with a knockout punch.
“He wanted to knock him out. I mean, he could’ve outboxed him. There’s no one in the place wondering if Floyd could’ve outboxed him — he decided to stay in and mix it up, and a lot of those punches that people said ‘Ooh’ and ‘Ahh’ about during the actual fight, they weren’t landing. He was using defense. … If you look back, they kept showing the replays of Cotto’s punches landing because they saw blood on Floyd — everybody’s excited and I’m like, he’s kicking his a** the whole round and you show that in the highlights.” (Fight Hype)
Following last weekend’s win, Mayweather was joined by 50, Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber.
The ‘Baby’ hitmaker showed his support for Mayweather by carrying two of the sports star’s title belts as he and rapper 50 Cent accompanied the boxing champ into Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Bieber remained ringside throughout the match to cheer on Mayweather, who preserved his unbeaten record after defeating Cotto. After the fight, the teen sensation jumped into the ring with 50 Cent and Lil Wayne to congratulate Mayweather on his victory and pose for pictures. (7 Action News)

Floyd Mayweather Jr. used his speed and accuracy to win a unanimous decision Saturday night over a game Miguel Cotto in one of his toughest fights ever. Mayweather dominated late, rocking Cotto in the 12th round to pull out a win and remain unbeaten in 43 fights. But it wasn’t easy, with Mayweather getting his nose bloodied and Cotto fighting until the final bell. (Star-Ledger)
Although he resides in Las Vegas, the boxer’s win was met by disgruntled fans.
Mayweather won Cotto’s 154-pound title in the fight, which two judges scored 117-111 and the third 118-110. The decision was roundly booed by the crowd at the MGM Grand arena, which cheered wildly every time Cotto landed a punch. (Washington Post)
