New York rapper 50 Cent has no plans of getting as “smart” as JAY-Z when his long-awaited new album arrives. The hip-hop veteran has provided some insight on his delayed Street King Immortal LP.
In a new interview, Fif compared his next album to Young Hov’s recently released 4:44 project.
“I have an album that I’ve been waiting to put out. JAY-Z just released a record recently. It was good I just said it was too smart. I think you do gotta dumb down the material to fit in what the culture’s producing. It’s a little more melody-driven and not as sophisticated as it was when I came in. I guess it’s a place for it like that. [Album release date?] It’ll be before the end of the year. It won’t be as smart as the JAY-Z record. I want to make music people have fun to.” (Access Hollywood Live)
Earlier in the year, the G-Unit boss reflected on the impact of his game-changing Get Rich or Die Tryin’ release.
In January, the hip-hop veteran promised to release new music in the near future.
In a recent interview, Fif hinted at his upcoming Street King Immortal album being his final studio release.
“I want to finish with that project. I don’t want to write another record after that. You know how some artists got to have confirmation that they’re right. I have that confirmation in f**king 35, 40 million [albums] that I already sold.” (Muscle & Fitness)
