While details are scarce, Curtis Jackson revealed the Doc would appear on his upcoming Animal Ambition release.

The first songs he plans to release are called “Don’t Worry About It,” and “Smoke.” Smoke, like Tony Stewart? “Nah, this one was produced by Dr. Dre.” Dr. Dre produced songs on 50 Cent’s new album, perhaps triggering the latest hip-hop rivalry: Which rapper has the freshest headphones, Beats by Dr. Dre or SMS Audio? “I’m listening to mine, he’s listening to his,” 50 Cent said, laughing. Heading into the weekend, 50’s unexpected “The Funeral” music video premiered online.

50 released “Funeral” on Friday (February 21), breaking down the emotional roller coaster of a murder with a the single and its video. “Flowers, funeral service, a kid’s in a coffin/ It sounds so familiar, don’t it happen so often,” Fif begins his rap with a dark flow. The rapper runs down a story which begins with a shoot-out in front of a non-descript New York corner store. “In her eyes, he was mommy’s little baby/ But he was outside talkin’ to n—as crazy,” 50 raps in an attempt to offer some reasoning as to why he had to put a hit out on his now deceased enemy. A day prior, the New York native revealed he would try his luck with G-Unit Records through an independent gamble.

50 Cent is leaving Interscope, the Universal-backed label that launched him into superstardom, and will take his G-Unit Records independent. The Queens-born rapper has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Caroline/Capitol/UMG, paving the way for the release of new album Animal Ambition on June 3rd. The deal, announced through a press release from the label, marks the end of a period of uncertainty over when and where 50 Cent would drop his follow-up to 2009?s Before I Self Destruct, his most recent studio album. Despite clashes over the composition and timing of the new record over the past few years, Interscope had only kind words for him today. (Forbes)

Shady Records head Eminem issued a statement on Fif’s unexpected power move following the news.

“Both myself and Shady Records are grateful to have had the chance to play a part in 50?s career,” he said in the statement. “Shady simply would not be what it is without 50 Cent. I’ve developed a great friendship with 50 over the years, and that’s not going to change. We know 50 will have success in his new situation, and we remain supporters of both him and G-Unit.” (Forbes)
