New York rapper 50 Cent and Starz want to see a $200 million lawsuit fade to black. The two heavyweights are trying to get a “Power” case against them vanished.
According to reports, Starz and 50 have filed a motion to get the suit dismissed.
“Power is a modern day story of a successful New York drug dealer and his desire to leave behind the drug trade and pursue only legal endeavors – in particular, an elite Manhattan nightclub. Tribulation, by contrast, takes place in an inner city neighborhood in Virginia and tells the story of how a triple murder sets off a wave of violence in warring communities and the impact this violence has on the 16-year-old protagonist,” the 34-page motion asserts. Back in 2015, buzz developed about writer Larry Johnson wanting $200 million over the “Power” creators jacking his manuscript.
Johnson says it’s a carbon copy of his manuscript. In his book, the primary character has a goatee … ditto “Ghost” in “Power.” In fact, Johnson says he even uses the nickname “Ghost” as his pen name. And Johnson says in his manuscript the main character’s best friend has a short fuse, just like Tommy in “Power.” (TMZ)
A few days ago, hip-hop stud 50 Cent promised last Sunday’s “Power” episode would prove a major point.
Recently, the “Power” Instagram page promoted a few potential new storylines.
Ok 50 cent you stole the power manuscript and got STARZ all jammed up. You know they done with you. SMDH
50 don’t have anything to do with the manuscript it’s all Courtney A. Kemp she is the writer for the show
