New York rapper 50 Cent has re-released the limited edition “G Unit” Tank Tops and Headbands, identical to the ones he wore during his Super Bowl Halftime show appearance.
The square-cut top was originally released in 2003 along with his never-really-trendsetting G-Unit clothing line.
Before the Superbowl hype, the vintage tank could only be found on resell sites such as ebay.com and poshmark.com. The current G-Unit website offers color options red or blue to choose from and runs about $40 for a tanktop and $20 for the matching headband.
During Sunday’s hip-hop-themed Super Bowl Halftime show, 50 Cent made a surprise appearance with “In Da Club.” He came in on stage hanging upside down, a throwback to his (buffer and younger) self in the “In Da Club” music video from back in 2003.
When he’s not hanging upside down, 50 Cent is busy making TV moves with hit shows like Power, Powerbook III: Raising Kanaan on STARZ, and the more recent and equally popular, BMF: Black Mafia Family. It seems the execs at Starz are loving 50’s ideas as they just greenlit another – this one about black royalty. The new historical drama series, “Queen Nzinga,” tells the story of an African queen who ruled in 17th century Angola.
50 Cent recently premiered “Power Book 4: Force” based upon Joseph Sikora’s character, “Tommy” from the original series. The season is two episodes in and fans are already impressed. 50 Cent tells Forbes “I’m looking to keep Power on the streets of America and have multiple successful shows coming from the Power Universe.”
