G-Unit boss 50 Cent has reacted to the viral backlash the Academy Awards has received over its exclusion of African Americans in key categories this year and pleaded for host Chris Rock to not attend.

50 made his public plea on Instagram early Tuesday (January 19) morning.

Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs issued a statement revealing her frustration Monday (January 18) and promised a change would come.

“I’d like to acknowledge the wonderful work of this year’s nominees. While we celebrate their extraordinary achievements, I am both heartbroken and frustrated about the lack of inclusion,” she said in statement issued Monday evening. “This is a difficult but important conversation, and it’s time for big changes. The Academy is taking dramatic steps to alter the makeup of our membership. In the coming days and weeks we will conduct a review of our membership recruitment in order to bring about much-needed diversity in our 2016 class and beyond.” (NY Daily News)

  1. I gotta say, I’m torn. On one hand, I’m mad as hell. Brothers never get the recognition they deserve when it comes to Hollywood. But on the other hand, why are they in the business? Is it because they have a passion for making films and entertaining? Or is it to get some award?

    I say, Chris do the Oscars. And address the issue in front of 70 million people.

    • But, The Oscars was created by white Jews back in the 1920’s of course its going to be for mostly white people.. We need our own Oscars!
