G-Unit head 50 Cent recently talked about making new music and, notably, why his Kendrick Lamar-assisted "We Up" collaboration underperformed.

In Fif’s opinion, the massive amount of music currently available to people made it hard for the song to shine.

In the case of “We Up,” 50 was just positive that the record would be a hit, but since its release in May, it has largely remained an underground favorite. “I know it ain’t my ear [because] Kendrick said the same thing I said when I sent it to him, ‘Oh this is a hit.’ And everybody said the same thing,” he said before surmising that the market is currently oversaturated with rap music. “I think it comes from so much stuff being in front of people.” (MTV)

Directed by renowned filmmaker Eif Rivera, the visual unexpectedly surfaced online back in March.

50 Cent hits the West Coast with Kendrick Lamar in the video for his new single “We Up.” The hip-hop mogul toasts to the good life while kicking it poolside in a plush pad in the Hollywood Hills surrounded by women. K-Dot stops by to deliver his verse in the Eif Rivera-directed clip. Fif’s G-Unit signee Kidd Kidd was previously featured on the song. The new version boasts new bars from 50 in place of his verse. The reworked track will hit iTunes on April 2, while his album Street King Immortal is due later this spring. (Rap-Up)

The revamped record premiered online just days prior.

50 Cent returns to the scene with a new version of his highly infectious track “We Up”. The track originally featured himself, Kendrick Lamar, and Kidd Kidd, gets revamped. The new version is basically the same, however without Kidd Kidd, and a new verse from 50 as he comes through a drops off some new bars. Man, I don’t know about you, but this shit right here is too dope not to be played at least twice. Check out the track after the jump and speak your mind. (Stupid Dope)

The original version of “We Up” heated up the Internet around mid-February.

A few weeks ago, 50 Cent posted a preview of the video for “We Up,” his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar and G-Unit signee Kidd Kidd. Perhaps because he didn’t want the full black-and-white, tuxedo-heavy video to be overshadowed by a certain other clip with those elements that dropped this week, Fiddy today (February 15) premiered the full song, sans video.
