What’s up SOHH family! SOHH entertainment correspondent Ryan Proctor here to wish everyone Merry Christmas, happy holidays or whatever you celebrate for real. I hope you’re all bundled up with some hot chocolate, your family and all the grand stuff you asked for from Santa. But, while you’re enjoying the time with your loved ones, there’s always a grip of Christmas movies on – and non-stop NBA games. If you’re looking for something to watch, here’s my 5 favorite Christmas movies of ALL TIME!
Die Hard
During the month of December, the question is always raised in my household if Die Hard is a Christmas movie. I am clearly in the boat that it is and a damn good one at that. It just doesn’t seem like Christmas until I see John McClain drop Hans Gruber off Nakatomi Tower. “HO! HO! HO!”

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch! I mean come on, even when I didn’t have kids I would for sure go out of my way to watch The Grinch. Him and his dog going down to Who-ville and straight up robbing the town? He just didn’t understand that’s not what Christmas is about. The singing he complained about helped his heart grow 3x that day, and grew as strong as 10 grinches. One of the best narrations for a film as well. No matter how many times they try to recreate it, they just don’t measure up the original.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
The opening alone makes it one of my favorites. The whole Peanuts gang ice skating on the lake is priceless. But, the thing that makes it one of my favorites, Charlie Brown is trying to find the meaning of Christmas through the whole thing. He’s asking everyone and everyone has a different reason for the meaning of Christmas. As Charlie Brown is trying to create his vision of Christmas in the play, he’s ridiculed for his selection of the Christmas tree. All it takes is for my dude Linus and his blanket to explain why Christmas is so special and how it shouldn’t be viewed as just a materialistic holiday. Inspiring the Peanuts to gather around the tree and celebrate with their oddball friend.
Jingle All the Way
Alright, before you get all up in arms about this one, this is MY LIST remember! This is one of the few times Arnold Schwarzenegger was funny. Him and Sinbad are gold in this movie. Even with some of the corny cheap laughs, this one hits close to home as a parent. We get so busy with everything going on around us all year then BAM! It’s Christmas and you haven’t done ANY shopping. All Arnold is trying to do is get a Turbo Man action figure for his kid, so is Sinbad. Their adventure along the way is great going from store to store is great. Throw in some Phil Hartman and you have Christmas classic.
A Christmas Story
And here you have it ladies and gentlemen, the best Christmas movie EVER MADE! This movie has it all. The dad, is over the top, the mom, runs the house, the kids, are all about the presents and Santa. That’s all that mattered. All the events leading up to the Christmas are hilarious. The infamous Leg Lamp, which is sold in most Spencer’s around this time of year. “Fra-gi-lee. Must be Italian.” All the one liners and how it’s told by Ralphie make this movie, my favorite Christmas movie of all time.
Before you get all pissed off and tell me how wrong I am to leave certain movies out. My honorable mentions that are just on the outside of this list. Home Alone 1 & 2, Elf, Harold and Kumar 3-D Christmas, and finally the classic It’s a Wonderful Life. That wraps it up ladies and gentlemen. Would love to know your favorite Christmas movies.
