Although nothing is sketched in stone yet, reports claim hologram Pac and rapper/producer Dr. Dre are headed overseas to perform.

With Madonna and Red Hot Chili Peppers set to announce summer dates, promoters are in talks with creators of the Tupac hologram, which allowed the rapper to “perform” and steal the show at a US festival in April. Promoters are pitching Shakur, gunned down in a hip hop feud in 1996, and producer-rapper Dr Dre, for shows in Melbourne and Sydney. “We have opened discussion lines direct to the company responsible for the Tupac hologram to work out how to bring this to the Australian marketplace in early 2013,” said Patrick Whyntie, of Heatwave Festival, overseen by Europe-based concert promoter, 8 Ball Entertainment. Back in April, Dre killed speculation which suggested the Coachella hologram performance would spark a slew of performances.

“What up, it’s Doc Dre, backstage, Coachella, 2012 and I want to thank everybody out there for all the love and support,” Dre said in an interview. “As you know, we had a hologram of Tupac Shakur show up as a part of our show. I want to thank a couple of companies out there that made my idea come to life. I want to say what’s up to AV Concepts which actually projected the hologram. I want to say what’s up to Digital Domain for actually putting the image together. They did an incredible job — it was strictly for Coachella, get it right. I want to get rid of all the rumors out there. This was not done for a tour. If a tour happens, we’ll see. This was done strictly for Coachella 2012, baby, just for you.” (Interscope Geffen)

Although embraced by many, Pac’s former Death Row Records boss Suge Knight lashed out over the performance last spring.

Suge Knight is FURIOUS over the look of 2Pac’s hologram at Coachella … telling TMZ the people who created it screwed up one major detail. The rapper was out in Los Angeles last night when he pointed out that the 3D hologram used to bring 2Pac to life on stage was missing the rapper’s famous Death Row Records chain. Knight told us, “At the end of the day, how you gonna take the Death Row chain off Pac? That’s like taking the Raiders symbol off the Raiders.” (TMZ)

Recent reports have suggested the late “King of Rock” Elvis Presley could be due next up for a hologram.

On Wednesday, Digital Domain Media Group and Elvis Presley Enterprises said they had begun work on “a series of digital Elvis Presley likenesses for shows and multi-platform entertainment projects.” Digital Domain’s chief creative officer, Ed Ulbrich, said “formal conversations” between the two companies began after Tupac’s high-profile return to the stage at Coachella in mid-April. The visual effects house began working on the project earlier this week, he said, but declined to provide more details, including when the reincarnated Elvis might be ready to return to the stage, and whether he’ll play Vegas.
