Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz has cleared the air on his upcoming third solo studio release and denied recent reports that it’ll be called B.O.A.T.S. III.
Despite the speculation, Deuce said his follow-up to the recently released Freebase EP would not be titled B.O.A.T.S. III.
“I’ve been looking at boats, like real boats,” Chainz said in an interview. “Nah, we not even gonna call the next album B.O.A.T.S. It’s gonna be a whole new campaign. I can’t wait to come back in. I’d rather that than show y’all what’s up with that. Somebody else said [B.O.A.T.S. III], they said I’m working on a new album so they automatically started to [call it that]. But this one right here, it’s a whole new campaign and it’s actually piggybacking off Freebase. Everything has a reason, just know what I’m doing, so the title of my third album won’t be Freebase, but it’ll piggyback off this lifestyle, this culture and it’s gonna be fun doing that too. I’ve been working on material for that as well.” (MTV)
Despite working with handfuls of stars including Kanye West and Lil Wayne, the artist formerly known as “Tity Boi” recently singled out one New York veteran he hoped to link with.
“It’s probably no secret that I wouldn’t mind getting in with Hov,” Chainz said referring to Jay Z when asked who he would like to collaborate with in the future. “I think it would be kind of cool.” (Complex)
Last summer, the rap star said he did not want to rush a joint effort alongside Young Hov or OutKast’s Andre 3000.
“For people that I’m huge fans of like Jay Z and Andre 3000, I feel like [there are] certain times in my career to do these songs,” 2 Chainz explained. “You don’t want them to be too early — you want them to be movies, you want them to be events. So for Me Time, I have a few features but I’m really showing my ass on this.” (MTV)
Back in February, brief and to the point, Chainz announced a new project was on deck via his Twitter page.
“Workin on B.O.A.T.S III,” Chainz tweeted February 4. (2 Chainz’s Twitter)
