Although brief with his words, the “Snowman” boasted about his new gig Thursday (August 9) afternoon.

Reports of Jeezy’s corporate move began buzzing online late Wednesday night.

Taking to his Twitter page today (Aug. 9), Jeezy acknowledged his new position — in a message that was also retweeted by Atlantic — by saying “From the streets to the Boardroom. SVP of A&R at Atlantic Records I am. Let’s Get it!” The news was reportedly broken by DJ Greg Street of V103 out of Atlanta, and was confirmed by Jeezy’s production coordinator DJ Folk last night. The Southern rapper has also made a name for himself as the head of Corporate Thugz Entertainment.

As an executive, Jeezy has stood at the end of his CTE World (Corporate Thugz Entertainment) label, helping to guide the careers of up and coming MCs like Freddie Gibbs, Tone Trump and Boo Rossini. What this latest move means for Jeezy’s CTE artists is indefinite at this point. It is also unclear how the move may affect Young’s career as a solo artist, he is currently signed to Def Jam Records. Last year, Jeezy inked Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs to his CTE label.

We reported last Monday that Freddie Gibbs was close to signing with Jeezy’s imprint, Corporate Thugz Entertainment, which is owned by Def Jam. And less than a week’s time, that news has been confirmed. The Los Angeles-by-way-of-Gary, Ind. rapper announced his signing to CTE at a concert last night in Chicago. He even brought out Jeezy to, perhaps, make it that much more official. While part of me wants to congratulate Gangsta Gibbs, I’m also extremely nervous. I mean, how long have we been waiting for Jeezy’s latest, TM 103? And does it even have a release date anymore? Time to cross our fingers. (Prefix Mag)
