In Jeezy’s opinion, it is time to move on after giving people six years of Thug Motivation records.

“I think this is the last one,” Jeezy said in an interview. “That’s why I put it together the way I did, you know. It’s on to the next chapter, the next phase. We did TM 101, which was [the first] Thug Motivation, 2 milli, changed the game a lil’ bit. I like to call it a classic. Just a lil’ bit though. … We did The Inspiration. I didn’t call it 102, but I think everybody in the streets called it 102 so I had to kind of ride with that. And then of course The Recession, shout out to Barack Obama, so now we’re back to motivating the thugs. … 2012, I just wanted to be there for my people.” (WPGC 95.5)

Since 2005, Jeezy has dropped two Thug Motivation albums.

Driven by the hit “Soul Survivor,” Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 eventually did even better, nestling at the number two spot in the Billboard 200. The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102 followed in late 2006, and by that point, Jeezy had become one of the most prominent MCs; the album became his first number-one smash. In 2007 he introduced his U.S.D.A. crew with the album Cold Summer, and then returned to his solo career a year later with the politically minded The Recession — his second set to reach number one. In 2010 the single “Lose My Mind” announced the coming of his fourth major-label release, TM 103. (All Music)

The upcoming Thug Motivation 103 project features rap stars like Jay-Z and Andre 3000.

Outside of TM 103, Jeezy recently discussed an interest to make a joint effort alongside Atlanta’s T.I.

Although both Atlanta rappers have had hectic schedules this fall, Jeezy said that he and T.I. may someday release a joint album, a la “Watch The Throne.” “Me and Tip actually were together and we [talked] about it,” he said. “We’ve just hit the ground running and been doing so many records that I don’t think it’s impossible. And we’ve known each other [long] enough to put something like that together, and I definitely think that the city would need it, because it would be a good look. And it would be an amazing album release party, by the way.” (Billboard)

Thug Motivation 103 is slated to hit stores Tuesday, December 20th.
