Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy has finally come clean on what exactly popped off at the BET Hip Hop Awards and responded to recent comments thrown his way courtesy of music rival Gucci Mane.
Downplaying the Rick Ross scuffle as anything other than petty, the “Snowman” spent ample time on his issues with Gucci.
“At the end of the day, I refuse to be part of this WWF propaganda and B.S. to sell records. If that’s who you want to be, you want to be a tough guy, you be that way. I’m a boss, I’m a G. That’s just how it is. … [Gucci Mane?] I mean, I feel like everybody know that boy retarded, nobody take him seriously. He got an ice cream cone on his face. That being said, I’m not going back. I’m going forward. And then it’s crazy because they’ll call you and want you on a song. And then when you don’t get on a song, that’s what happens.” (“Big Boy’s Neighborhood”)
Last week, mutual friend T.I. gave his take on why the fight went down.
“I didn’t even know about the fight,” T.I. revealed in an interview. “Men everywhere, we have huge egos and lots of pride. I don’t know that particular incident personally, but most fights that I hear about, it’s about pride and ego. I can’t speak for every case. I don’t know much about this case.” (KTLA)
Footage of the incident heated up the Internet a couple weeks ago.
The BET Awards brawl between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy took an army of guards to break it up and left a trail of destruction backstage — and TMZ got the intense footage on tape. In the video, security can be seen stepping in between the various combatants almost immediately, separating everyone before the fight got out of hand. A shirtless Rick Ross can be seen yelling before being escorted away from the scene. Whoever Ross was yelling at tried to follow after him, but security stepped in before he could get there. There was one casualty however — a random mirror. According to Atlanta PD, no arrests were made. (TMZ)
This week, Gucci declared his respect for Ross and revealed his distanced relationship from Jeezy.
“[Rick] Ross is a friend of mine, of course Jeezy is not,” Gucci said in an interview. “I don’t care about nothing that happened to him [at the BET Hip Hop Awards taping]. Ain’t nobody finna do nothing to Gucci period. Never. And that didn’t happen. I ain’t let nobody push me, mush me.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
