Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland is going to officially “son” actor Terrence Howard when “Empire” returns for its second season this September.
According to reports, Rowland has joined the cast and will play the mother of Howard’s “Lucious Lyon” character.
Kelly Rowland will appear on the hit FOX show this fall, a source told E! News exclusively on Saturday, the Fourth of July, at the 2015 Essence Festival in New Orleans. The 34-year-old R&B singer will play Lucious Lyon’s mother in a flashback. (E! Online)
Rowland recently hooked up with the “Empire” writing team.

Hollywood actress Marisa Tomei is also going to play a large role in season two.
The My Cousin Vinny star will appear in multiple episodes of Empire as Mimi Whiteman, a lesbian billionaire venture capitalist who meddles in Lyon family drama. (TIME)
Although slim with details, Terrence Howard recently admitted his character’s backstory would come into play in the long-awaited show’s return.
“This second season, we’re going to find out what turned Lucious into who he is, and he’s going to clean up some messes that were left in the last episode.” That last episode had Lucious sitting in a jail cell, so the drama is definitely far from over. (ET Online)
