West Coast rapper YG is reportedly pouring his heart into the upcoming Still Brazy album and addresses his near-death 2015 shooting on it.

According to reports, YG has multiple songs and themes inspired by the June 2015 murder attempt.

On “Who Shot Me?” which was said—maybe apocryphally—to have been recorded the day after the shooting, posits the idea that he was set up by friends. On opener “Don’t Come to L.A.,” he makes the uniquely Angeleno threat to “catch your ass slipping at the BET Awards.” My Krazy Life was a day-in-the-life narrative stitched together by conversations with YG’s mom; on Still Brazy, news clips about the murder attempt to serve a similar purpose. Last fall, the West Coast native said the June 2015 studio shooting may have been an inside job.

“That was some inside type, somebody-was-really-coming-to-get-me type shit,” YG says with hazy disbelief. “It was like niggas knew where we was at, and they was coming to do what they was supposed to do.” (The FADER)

The California native also spoke on the hostility amongst his peers.

“We ain’t gon’ speak on ‘em, we ain’t go give ‘em no fame. I ain’t gon’ shed no light on they careers, or they life, or whatever the f*ck they doing,” YG continues. “I feel like this: Los Angeles County is sick right now. It’s bad. Everybody mad out here right now. All the young motherf*ckers, they getting money, they motivated. We had something to do with that because we came up. It brought opportunity for motherf*ckers and shed more light on the West Coast.” (The FADER)

YG previously revealed one of the bullets which struck him.
