West Coast rapper YG discusses new music and his near-fatal studio shooting in the upcoming new The FADER issue.

Within his feature, YG admits he believes the attack may have come from an inside man.

“That was some inside type, somebody-was-really-coming-to-get-me type shit,” YG says with hazy disbelief. “It was like niggas knew where we was at, and they was coming to do what they was supposed to do.” (The FADER)

The California native also speaks on the hostility amongst his peers.

“We ain’t gon’ speak on ‘em, we ain’t go give ‘em no fame. I ain’t gon’ shed no light on they careers, or they life, or whatever the fuck they doing,” YG continues. “I feel like this: Los Angeles County is sick right now. It’s bad. Everybody mad out here right now. All the young motherfuckers, they getting money, they motivated. We had something to do with that because we came up. It brought opportunity for motherfuckers and shed more light on the West Coast. The music shit start popping again out here. We got strip clubs now, you feel me? It’s a lot of motherfuckers doing music now. It’s a lot of females becoming models and shit now. We got something to do with that. But at the same time, it’s a lot of motherfuckers that’s mad because they see what I’m doing, and they want my spot so bad.” (The FADER)

YG revealed one of the bullets which struck him on Instagram last July.

Recently, YG revealed he spent minimal time receiving medical attention after the shooting went down.

“I’m good. I left the hospital that night, and the next day I went back to the studio. Nobody wanted me to go. My mama tells me, “What are you talking about ‘going to the studio?’” But you know, I got shit to do — this sh*t don’t stop for nobody. I came straight to the studio on my little crutches – I’m hard to kill.” (Billboard)

YG also revealed Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie reached out to him immediately after the incident happened.

“Everybody — family, friends, the label. Lil’ Boosie Facetimed me. I was in the hospital, in a wheelchair, and I lost all my contacts but I see the 504, so I knew it wasn’t anybody in L.A., so I ask who it is and he says, “It’s Boosie. What’s up man, you straight?” He was real concerned, he was like, “My n—a, you good?” and I’m like “Yeah,” and he was like “All right, my n—a.” I know who cares about me and who’s faking. I don’t have to get shot to figure that out.” (Billboard)
