Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Andre "Christ Bearer" Johnson is reportedly in critical condition after cutting off his penis in a suicide attempt Wednesday (April 16) morning in Los Angeles.

Rapper Andre Johnson severed his penis and jumped from a Los Angeles apartment building early Wednesday, police said. Johnson was seriously injured, but survived the fall from the second level of the building in North Hollywood, Los Angeles Police Sgt. William Mann said. Johnson, along with his recovered penis, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was being treated, Mann said. (CNN)

The rapper who cut his penis off and jumped off his balcony is Christ Bearer — aka Andre Johnson — a member of the rap group Northstar. Members of the group who also live in the apartment building tell TMZ … they were there early this morning when Christ Bearer suddenly — without warning — cut his penis off and jumped off the balcony. They say they were not on “any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing.” They add it all happened in a matter of seconds. But by the time they raced downstairs, Christ Bearer was already up and running around screaming incoherently. (TMZ)

According to reports, Johnson’s career dates back to the mid-2000’s with connections to the Wu.

Johnson has been a member of Northstar, a Long Beach, California, hip hop group that was part of the Wu-Tang Clan family, according to the Wu-Tang Clan website. He performs under the name Christ Bearer. His recording credits include “When the Guns Come Out,” which was included on the soundtrack of the 2004 film “Blade: Trinity,” according to the Internet Movie Database. (CNN)
