Wiz Khalifa’s “O.N.I.F.C.” First-Week Sales Projections Revealed

Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa‘s new O.N.I.F.C. (Only N*gga In First Class) is en route to push out impressive opening week numbers with estimates up to 145,000 sold copies.

Based on one-day projections, the LP could possibly debut atop its competition.

O.N.I.F.C., the very latest offering from Atlantic’s Wiz Khalifa, is on course to sell somewhere in the 135-145k range, making it a contender for #1 next week against chart stalwarts Rod Stewart (Verve) and Taylor Swift (Big Machine). How will the week’s other new releases stack up? We’re glad you asked. RCA’s Ke$ha should be able to afford plenty of whiskey-flavored toothpaste with an 80-85k bow, while Big Machine/Republic country beau hunks Florida Georgia Line chug into the holidays with a 50-55k debut. This week, Wiz cleared up a misconception with his new solo offering.

“The stigma that I get — even with this album, the vibe of it and how mellow it is — you automatically say, ‘Oh, it’s a stoner album,’ just because I smoke,” the Pittsburgh rapper told MTV News on Tuesday (December 4) promoting the just-released LP at SiriusXM Radio. “Instead of saying it’s a mood album or something that you really have to listen to or pay attention to, people automatically say it’s a stoner album.” (MTV)

Earlier this year, the free spirited rapper revealed his label’s interest in O.N.I.F.C. churning out single-driven tracks.

“Atlantic likes O.N.I.F.C.,” says Wiz. “But they want more obvious singles because that’s what sells it for them. My belief in the record is what sells it to me. It’s not a conflict. You just have to communicate so everybody understands it. … When you’re working with other people, you figure out how much you do for them and how much you do for yourself. You can’t just be an artist fighting for your opinion and that’s it. The label has to understand artists. I wanted to make Rolling Papers when I made Rolling Papers, now it’s time for O.N.I.F.C. Now we’re going to do it exactly how I want to do it to see how that works. It can’t be one-sided.” (Complex)

The rap star’s Rolling Papers Atlantic Records debut sold nearly 200,000 copies in its opening week last year.

Leading the pack this week is Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers which opened at No. 2 behind Britney SpearsFemme Fatale (277,100). According to Nielsen Soundscan, Wiz’s Atlantic Records debut has sold 198,200 copies after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
