Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa recently discussed his Drake-assisted “Work Hard, Play Hard” remix never dropping, claiming the Young Money star could not meet his deadline.
Despite the snub, Wiz said there are no hard feelings over their missed opportunity.
“He boofed me, man,” Khalifa revealed . “He was supposed to do his verse and he ain’t do it, so we had to put it out. But it ain’t no love lost. You know, people get that done all the time in the industry.” (Montreality)
Back in August, Khalifa revealed plans for both Lil Wayne and Drake to hop on the remix.
“I usually don’t use my rap powers and talk to the people that I can talk to to get stuff done,” Wiz said in an interview. “I usually just be thugging it out, but I took the thuggery off and I talked to Wayne and Drake.” (Cosmic Kev)
Although Drizzy flaked on the collabo, Weezy F. Baby did come through for Wiz’s remix.
To everyone who that thought that Drake and Lil Wayne would be a feature on the remix to Wiz Khalifa’s “Work Hard, Play Hard,” sorry, but you were wrong. Instead, Young Jeezy and Wayne laid new verses to complete the cut; and as he should, Wiz offers a new verse as well. With artists remixing other artists’ songs now-a-days maybe we will hear that 16 from Drake?! Who knows. But in the meantime, we have the Stargate and Benny Blanco produced track for you fans in the radio ripped version. (Stupid Dope)
Coincidentally, Khalifa turned down an opportunity to tour with Drake two years ago.
“You know we was trying to get Wiz on the tour,” Drake said, simultaneously informing listeners and his team who were hanging out in the room and clearly didn’t know what he was referring to. The MC then addressed his fans once again: “Hopefully, the Light Dreams [and] Nightmares Tour, depending on what city we go to, it’ll be Clipse, Bun B and Wiz Khalifa. That’s what I’m hoping. I don’t know, maybe I spoke too soon…If Wiz by any chance watches this, you gotta make some calls for me and make this happen. We got that young energy right now, we need to go out here and kill these people.” (MTV)
