“Black & Yellow” hitmaker Wiz Khalifa has finally shared his reaction to last weekend’s Super Bowl after his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, came up short of the championship trophy.
Coping with the loss, Wiz decided to look at the situation in a more positive light.
“My reaction to Sunday is just like, we’ll get ‘em next time,” the mellow MC said. “We’ve been to plenty of Super Bowls. It won’t be the last one, and it was kind of a bummer just losing. But we had a great season and a lot of momentum just going into it, so I think that just had everybody boosted anyway. There was a lot of attention on Pittsburgh.” (MTV)
Although Wiz’s team walked away empty handed, Cash Money Records’ co-founder Baby a.k.a. Birdman cashed in after betting a million dollars on the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl.
“Ymcmb birdman 1mill….paint tha t0wn red.greenbay in beast m0de.we tha business,” Birdman tweeted Sunday (February 6) evening.
“Milli0n d0lla we tha business YMCMB.birdman bmjr. LETS GO PAINT THE TOWN RED… JUST CASHED IN A MILLI S/O TO THEGREEN BAY PACKERS…..LONG HAIR DONT CARE”
“GREEN AND YELLOW..PAINT THE TOWN RED … CHING CHING U DUCKS … CHING CHING SEND THAT…. WHERE’S MY PACKERS FANS??”
“@S/O TO @CLAYMATTHEWS AND THE GREEN AND YELLOW..WE GOING TO THE PARADE… Dallas..what it do?? 4 milli 4 milli…….billionaire” (Birdman’s Twitter)
Also in support of the Packers, Lil Wayne dropped a “Green & Yellow” anthem.
Lil Wayne is clearly a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers football team. So much so, that he’s taken “Black and Yellow” — the Wiz Khalifa-helmed anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers — and remixed it to a Packers-inspired track titled “Green and Yellow.” Perfect timing for Sunday’s Super Bowl Game, where the two teams will face off for the NFL championship. Prior to the Steelers making the Super Bowl, Khalifa showed off his hometown love by performing “Black & Yellow” in the AFC (American Football Conference) Championship.
“It’s gonna be crazy man,” Wiz promised. “It’s gonna be really monumental to see everyone out there. Knowing where I grew up and everyone rockin’ in the same place. This is the closest to being a Steeler that I’m gonna get. I’ve always had that Pittsburgh pride. I just wanted to let people know where I’m from and represent any way I can and what better way than through our colors. I took that hometown pride and put it in a song.” (XXL Mag)
