Although brief with his words, Khalifa emphasized coming up with relatable hits and swaying away from the more “obvious”-sounding tunes.

Wiz Khalifa isn’t worried about a sophomore jinx. Instead, Taylor Gang captain is focusing on giving fans the best listening experience possible with his upcoming O.N.I.F.C. (Only N—a in First Class). “I just really wanted it to be the best rap album possible with a bunch of less obvious songs in your face, but with stuff that makes sense and that it relates to people who enjoy music,” he told MTV News when taking part in our Hip-Hop Music Preview. A few months ago, Mobb Deep’s Prodigy reacted to Khalifa choosing an album title similar to his H.N.I.C. (Head N*gga In Charge) solo debut.

“Yeah, I heard about the Wiz Khalifa project coming out. I forgot the exact name of what he called it, but I read an article that he got the idea of doing that from my H.N.I.C. projects that I put out,” Prodigy said in an interview. “That’s all love. I love Wiz Khalifa, I love his music. I ain’t mad at ya, dogs. Let’s do something together. Let’s do a song or something. Let’s do a tour or something. I got ya back, thun.” (MTV)

In February, Wiz reflected on his 2011 gold-selling Rolling Papers Atlantic Records debut.

“Moving on to the music, I haven’t been this excited about any of my projects ever. I remember when i made kush and orange juice, I listened to it and knew I had created a new genre that wld change music. The mistake i made on Rolling Papers was thinking it was time to move on from that genre not knowing that it had impacted people so much. The album did great numbers, but creatively wasn’t my best work. No regrets though. We live and we learn.” [sic] (The Lvls!x)

He also gave fans an idea of what to expect from the upcoming LP.

“So for my fans sake and own personal enjoyment, Ive gone further into the world we’ve created and elaborated on our genre with the mixtape Taylor Allderdice and of course my sophomore album ONIFC. Im so confident in the artistry and creativity of these projects because so much living went along with them. These aren’t songs aimed to be hits or widely accepted or even understood. Iss for people who live like us and can relate. And informative to those who can’t. Either way we’re inviting mu fuggas deep into our world and I can’t wait. I got new visuals, a new clothing line, and the new show is gonna be amazing. This is for us. Taylor Gang Or Die.” [sic] (The Lvls!x)
