According to Wiz, he was willing to take a risk, which eventually paid off for him.

“I went out on a limb and went with my gut feeling,” Wiz told MTV News. “It was risky when you go for what you know, but it’s really easy to take the hand from someone. Not saying I didn’t want it or couldn’t use it, but I figured I’d try a different method, and it ended up working for me.” (MTV)

Wiz opted against touring with Drake last August, as he preferred to focus on building his personal brand.

“It just lets me know that I’m doin’ what I need to be doin’ as far as stayin’ relevant and stayin’ poppin’. But I think to keep me poppin’ and keep me relevant I gotta stay buildin’ on top of what I’m doin’ and what I been doin’. No disrespect to Cuz or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep buildin’ and keep my brand as strong as what it is, I gotta keep focusin’ on what it is. This is my first tour that I got comin’ up, the Waken Baken tour, I gotta at least kick that off and make that it what it is so we can do ten more…I’m real happy for Drake and real proud of Drake. I was lookin’ on the Internet and that [he] made $10 million this year. So maybe when I make $10 million then we can tour.” (XXL Mag)

While Ustreaming, Drake revealed his goal to snag Wiz as a tour mate for the Light Dreams & Nightmares quest.

“You know we was trying to get Wiz on the tour,” he said, simultaneously informing listeners and his team who were hanging out in the room and clearly didn’t know what he was referring to. The MC then addressed his fans once again: “Hopefully, the Light Dreams [and] Nightmares Tour, depending on what city we go to, it’ll be Clipse, Bun B and Wiz Khalifa. That’s what I’m hoping. I don’t know, maybe I spoke too soon…If Wiz by any chance watches this, you gotta make some calls for me and make this happen. We got that young energy right now, we need to go out here and kill these people.” (MTV)

As of now, Wiz is currently working on his Atlantic Records debut album.

“It’s been awesome, you know what I’m saying, just working with a lot of people over there that completely understand my movement and what I’m doing,” Wiz told radio personality A-Plus about his relationship with Atlantic. “‘Black & Yellow,’ the single, just how that worked out. Me pushing it to them and them really going hard with it. It’s a great marriage that we got going on. It’s definitely new energy, it’s a lot of motivation for the project, and it’s understanding going forward…I wanna work with Cam’ron, trying to get Cam’ron on the album. [Twitter trending topic] ‘CamronSays,’ Cam’ron’s my man, a lot of people don’t know I started that. I did, me. Shout-out to Killa. I want to get Killa on the album. I want to get 8Ball & MJG, I want to get Devin the Dude on the album, Snoop [Dogg] of course. And if anything else happens, it’ll be a classic collaboration that nobody expects.” (Power 92.1)
