Wiz Khalifa Announces Newest Taylor Gang Signing [Video]

Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa has announced the latest signee to his star-studded Taylor Gang music crew with the addition of West Coast hip-hop artist Ty Dollar $ign.

In a new video, Wiz is shown sitting alongside Ty and breaking the news of his team growing.

“Look here, man, I’m not even going to hold you people anymore,” Wiz said in an video. “This dude right here makes amazing music, I’m a huge fan, been a huge fan, so it’s only right that Ty Dollar $ign joins Taylor Gang, you know what I mean? It is what it is, he smokes a ton of pot, too. So we’re going to pass the jar, it’s a little thing we like to do over at Taylor Gang, just a small token of our appreciation for coming over here. And congratulations on a dope a** mixtape. Beach House 2, make sure you guys go and get that right now. I’m passing the jar, bruh. Smoke that.” (Civil TV)

Along with his new label situation, Ty also celebrated the release of his new Beach House 2 mixtape this week.

Ty Dolla $ign has been building up his résumé, crafting hits for Trey Songz (“Fumble”) and Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa (“Young, Wild, & Free”). Now the L.A. hitmaker calls on his famous friends for Beach House 2, the follow-up to his 2012 mixtape. Hosted by DJ Drama, the 13 tracks feature Chris Brown, Game, B.o.B, Wiz Khalifa, and Juicy J, with production from D.R.U.G.S., DJ Mustard, and D’Mile. Ty is also readying his full-length debut, due later this year on Atlantic Records. (Rap-Up)

Back in late 2011, Wiz raised eyebrows by signing Three 6 Mafia‘s Juicy J to the crew.

“Yeah that’s official, that’s good to go,” Khalifa confirmed with MTV News on Wednesday night before he took the stage with Snoop Dogg at Terminal 5 in New York. For Wiz, this is an opportunity to link up with an artist that he has looked up to for a long time. “Well, I’ve always been a huge fan of Juicy J and Three 6 Mafia and what they brought to the game,” he said. “As far as their music, as far as their consistency, as far as just if you’re in that mood and you know what you wanna hear, they brought it and I respected that. And they brought it for years, since I was young.” Turns out, according to Khalifa, Juice was a fan of Wiz as well. “It was like, ‘Man we might as well bridge the gap and takeover,’ because he’s gonna be here forever and I’m gonna be here forever.” (MTV)

Taylor Gang’s Chevy Woods previously talked to SOHH about the roster’s growth.

“I’m bringing my me and my laid back personality. The Taylor Gang is one gang, but we’re all different. No one is trying to be other other. All of us do little things to spread their message to the world. Each Taylor Gang member is good with the lane of music they’re doing … we can jump into each others lane and make it work. As far as what I want to get out the game, I’m not looking for a big pot of gold or a certain amount of money or none of that sh**. I’m just lookin’ for the repsect and the love.” (SOHH)
