Williams recalled Chainz being in the zone and surrounded by a bunch of his crew prior to lacing the single with his bars.

“He had a room full of all his folks and they were all in the zone,” Pharrell recalled, explaining the atmosphere he walked into. “I [was] absorbing the air and the vibe, the tone, the pacing because everybody there was pretty much on a similar page. Immediately I started working on what that [vibe] felt like to me and that there’s where the loop of the beat [came from]. It’s that ’80s ska, reggae, glass-of-wine type of feel. I just put the drums up under it and it just happened that way.” (MTV)

Chainz hit the Hot 97 Summer Jam stage running Sunday (June 2) evening at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey strapped with the new record.

2 Chainz had promised he will debut his new single from the upcoming sophomore album tonight and he surely delivered on it. Tity Boi displayed solid energy during his set at Hot 97 Summer Jam which included bringing out special guest Nicki Minaj and premiere of his new single ‘Feds Watching’ which is produced by Pharrell. Heading into the weekend, Chainz announced he would treat concertgoers to an official first listen to his next solo project’s track.

“I WILL DEBUT MY NEW SINGLE FOR MY NEW ALBUM AT SUMMER JAM.. Fuk it I’m byke outchea, PS. I came and neva left,” Chainz tweeted May 31st. (2 Chainz’s Twitter)

The news came days after Chainz downplayed the idea of needing to switch up his bars on the upcoming sophomore album.

The six-foot-five giant with the strange look and the twisted humor (Money talk, you ain’t got none / End of discussion) is hip-hop’s most in-demand MC, thanks to his tawdry, spit-take-funny two-beat punch lines. “There’s nothing new under the sun,” Chainz says about the lyrics for his second album, out this summer. “Everyone’s sold dope, f*cked bitches, popped champagne, shot guns. I’ll take the extra minutes to do it a new way.” (GQ)
