Details of the unexpected power move surfaced online this weekend.

Big Boi, the rap artist best known as half of hip-hop duo Outkast, has signed a management deal with Jordan Feldstein‘s Career Artist Management, whose clients include Maroon 5 and Robin Thicke. Feldstein is the founder and CEO of Career Artist Management and has managed Maroon 5 since their formation over ten years ago, helping guide the group to three Grammy Awards and sales of over 10 million albums worldwide. The colorful rap star and Career Artist Management’s head have both confirmed the partnership.

“Jordan is a go-getter, mover and shaker, and my kind of guy,” Big Boi said in a statement. “I love his energy. We have a lot of new material and content coming this year, and can’t wait to get things started.” “I’m proud to have a hip-hop icon like Big Boi join our management roster,” Feldstein commented. “We are all ready and excited to get started and continue to expand Big Boi’s overall brand as an artist.” (Billboard)

Recently, BB promised a new solo project was in the works.

“No, we’re just doing the tour only just for the fans,” Boi said in an interview. “That’s all it is, a tour. I got a solo album I’m working on, but it’s just the OutKast 20-year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate for our fans, but there is no album in the works.” (REVOLT)

Although Boi stayed slim with the details, he also recently promised fans could expect some solo work from him.

“It’s all about the 20 year anniversary of Southernplayalistic,” Boi said in an interview. “It’s a long time to still be doing music at a high caliber and having fun doing it. [Me and Killer Mike touring?] Anything can happen. We’ve got a couple new jams we recorded in the studio recently, so look out for that new Big Boi solo record coming too. So, you know, we’re just staying working, man.” (REVOLT TV)
