According to reports, Loso will release a follow-up to 2011’s The Soul Tape in the near future.

Fabolous has been pretty quiet this year, only dropping a few songs and appearances. However tonight he went on Instagram to drop a video that all but confirms that there will be a new entry in his “Soul Tape” series of mixtapes coming before this year is out. Rapping over an instrumental for Drake’s “Paris Morton Music 2” Fab gives an enticing preview of what is to come. Could this hold the fans over until the release of his new album? Only time will tell. (Complex)

Initial plans were for Fab’s new album to arrive nationwide in mid-June.

Fabolous stopped by BET’s 106 & Park on Wednesday afternoon to world premiere his video with Chris Brown, “Ready.” Loso explained the video’s concept, and filming it in the Dominican Republic. The Brooklyn spitter used the appearance to announce his Loso’s Way 2: Rise to Power album will hit shelves on June 18. When touching on features, Fab says to expect Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Future, Young Jeezy, plus a few more surprises. (Miss Info TV)

Last spring, Fab revealed his interest in snagging fellow New York veteran Nas and West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar for the project.

“Future’s on there. Rick Ross is on there as well, and I’ve been talking with Nas and trying to reach out to Kendrick,” Fab revealed in an interview when asked who would appear on his upcoming Loso’s Way 2 solo album. “[Release date?] Not yet. I’m looking like May-ish. Mid May, end of May.” (“Los Angeles Leakers”)

A few months prior, Loso said he wanted to continue putting out new music up to the release of his long-awaited solo effort.

“I gave that music just to keep the people fed. At some point they get starved, like, we need some music, so I gave them the [There Is No Competition 3], and since then I’ve been working on the album,” Fab said in an interview. “The whole process in between that, I’ve just been working on the album and getting it ready. The release should be top of fall. … This one is really growth and evolution. I think people know what I do — they know I’ve been in the game for a minute, but you gotta continuously show that growth and show that you’re bringing something. It’s the same thing, it’s the same steps over and over again, but you gotta make it look new.” (MTV)

Loso previously discussed needing to find the right production for his sixth album.

Fabolous recently told VIBE, Loso’s Way 2, could be ready by as early as this spring/early summer. In an exclusive interview in New York City, Loso reveleaed he’s been laying the groundwork for the project. “Loso’s Way 2 is slated for 2012 release and looking spring/early summer. This mixtape is going to coast us into that and bring some energy to this time as well,” Fab told VIBE. “I’m very premature with the album as of yet, as of now, just grabbing up the beats and putting some ideas down.” Currently, the Brooklyn rapper is looking for the right production to fit his sequel. “I went in with Hit-Boy. I went in with No I.D. I went in with Pharrell. I went in with a lot of guys that didn’t have to have that big name either. It’s just about the energy. I love the new young guys’ energy,” explained Fabolous. (VIBE)
