With Young Money's Drake joining Jordan Brand this week and Kanye West recently partnering up with ADIDAS, rap veteran Nas is getting in on the fun with his own sneaker venture.
According to reports, Nasty Nas is setting up his very own sneaker outlet in Nevada.
Nas continues to quietly expand his business empire with a new sneaker store opening in Las Vegas. The retail spot called the 12A.M. Run will be located at The Caesars Casino Linq district. The open-air space is already home to a huge observation wheel, restaurants and other retail places. “My shoe store at The Linq in Vegas is coming soon!! Follow @12amrun! #12amrun Nas tweeted earlier this week, along with a video set to his “Made You Look” beat. Earlier this year on the business front, Nas invested some reported six figures in hip-hop magazine Mass Appeal as well as partnered with liquor company Hennessy and launched a clothing line called HSTRY. Drake broke his Jordan news during a performance near Nike’s Portland headquarters Tuesday (December 3).
“Growing up, I’m sure we idolized this guy. He goes by the name of Michael Jordan, you understand what I’m saying?” Drake said to the crowd at the Rose Garden Arena during his tour stop in Portland, Oregon, on Tuesday night. Known for its microbreweries, chainsaw wielding and local hero Timber Joey, Portland is also home to Nike and Jordan Brand’s corporate offices. “So today, I came to Portland and I officially became inducted into the Team Jordan family so I feel like I’m at home right now, if you understand what I’m talking about,” Drake said without getting into specifics. “And it is a family and I don’t take that word lightly.” (MTV)
The Toronto native also resorted to his Instagram page to boast about the new situation.
Drake took to Instagram soon thereafter to share photos of two offerings from their collaboration: AIr Jordan 10’s and OVO Stingray 12’s. Jordan announced the partnership early this morning on Twitter, tweeting: “He’s home. Welcomem the newest member of #TeamJordan: @Drake.” (Billboard)
A few days ago, ADIDAS formally welcomed Kanye West to their team.
