Roc Nation's Willow Smith may continue to follow her father's career path as speculation brews claiming that the 10- year-old "Whip My Hair" hitmaker might remake one of Will Smith's most notable singles.
Acknowledging her interest, Willow said her version of “Parents Just Don’t Understood” could be in the works.
Willow Smith is about own 2011. The new year will bring the “Whip My Hair” singer’s debut album, opening for Justin Bieber on his European tour and now, a potential remake of her father’s 1988 Grammy hit “Parents Just Don’t Understand”. The pint-sized diva told Yahoo! Music, “There’s a possibility that I will, there’s a possibility. It’s a really great song.” What’s next, a Fresh Princess Of Bel Air sitcom? (Idolator)
Earlier this month, Willow discussed her determination to become a top-billing recording star.
“I would like to be a very well known artist,” Willow said in an interview. “I would like to be as big as Lady Gaga. I would like to be bigger. I’d like to be a big rock star…The hardest part is wanting to hang out with your friends when you have to work. My friends will come over and you’re recording and you’re like, ‘Pleeease let me go with my friends. I don’t wanna stay here!’ but people are relying on you.” (NME)
While Gaga may be her favorite pop superstar, Willow recently named some of her top emcees.
Willow Smith became a fan of Tupac through her mother, Jada Pinkett-Smith, who was best friends with the rapper since they met in Baltimore, where Tupac attended theater classes early in his career. During an interview with Nnette on Madd Hatta’s morning show, on 97.9 The Box in Houston, Willow Smith detailed her love for Tupac, as well as other musicians. “He was my mom’s best friend,” said Willow, who added that she was fan of Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Billy Idol, B.O.B. and Eminem, although she labeled Tupac as her favorite. Southern rapper Rick Ross recently expressed his admiration for Willow.
“It’s incredible, I was like wow, she’s can’t be nine,” Ross said with a smile. “It can’t be true. But you know, every so often, you find a true ball of talent and that’s what that is. She’s a young beautiful superstar, it’s just written all over her face and just to hear the record, it’s crazy.” (Rap-Up TV)
