In the wake of rapper T.I. being released from jail earlier this week, rapper Beanie Sigel recently gave his take on being an artist behind bars.

Sigel said he left his stage persona behind while serving a year and a day in federal prison.

“When I went to jail, I ain’t go in there as Beanie Sigel or The Broad Street Bully. I was an inmate. But I got embraced in jail because I was a window to the outside world for n*ggas that’s never gettin’ out them buildings. There were niggas in there locked up since Benz 190’s was out. They aint never even seen the inside of a 5 or a 6. Dudes was in there and been locked up since the 80’s. But one thing I learned while I was locked up is that there’s a big difference between family and relatives.”(SOHH)

Sigel went on to say that despite the harsh reality of incarceration, the year-long bid ironically provided a much needed break.

“That year I did in jail was the best thing and worst thing I had to do in my life. Those stories you see [on the show] Lockup are real. Those situations happen, you let them happen to you. But I was good in jail. It was some of the best sleep I ever got. I was resting well.”(SOHH

Earlier this week, T.I. was reportedly removed from halfway house to an undisclosed location less than 48 hours after being released from an Arkansas jail for an 11-month sentence.

Grammy-winning rapper T.I., who was freed after months in prison, was back in federal custody Thursday because of a flap over his use of a luxury bus to report to a halfway house, his lawyer said. Steve Sadow told The Associated Press that the Federal Bureau of Prisons “has moved T.I. to a different facility” because of an issue involving the rapper’s 375-mile trip Wednesday from the Arkansas lockup to Atlanta in a gleaming motor coach. He did not elaborate on the exact nature of the problem federal authorities had, but said it was not drug-related. He said they are trying to resolve the problem. T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, traveled with an entourage to check into the halfway house, stepping off the bus clad in a red and blue striped polo shirt and white shirts. “There appears to be confusion surrounding the method of transportation,” Sadow said.(CBS News)

While reports claim Tip was placed under federal custody due to the lavish way he departed Arkansas, his wife Tiny said prison officials should have spoken out prior to his leaving.

T.I.’s wife tells TMZ … multiple prison officials actually saw the tour bus that picked up the rapper yesterday — and even took photos with T.I. in front of it — and NOBODY raised an issue. Tameka “Tiny” Cottle tells us … when the tour bus rolled up to the Arkansas prison yesterday, prison officials “Walked him over, took pics and told him good luck in life.” Tiny says, “This is a bunch of bulls**t … they should have said something before he got on the bus … T.I. would have politely gotten into a van.” She adds, “T.I. is one of the strongest individuals I know … and they just trying to break him in more ways than one and it’s not gonna work! ‘Cause what God got for him, can’t no man take that away … period!”(TMZ)
