Following a recently criticized trip to North Korea, Rodman has now found himself seeking professional help.

Former basketball star Dennis Rodman has checked into an alcohol-rehabilitation center after facing backlash for his visit to North Korea. “He has been in rehab most of this week, and I am very proud of him,” said Darren Prince, his agent. “His drinking escalated to a level that none of us had seen before. When he came back, I discussed with him on a personal level how concerned I was. We sat down and decided for him to go to rehab. It is a 28 or 30 day facility.” He entered a center in the East Coast on Wednesday, a source close to Rodman told CNN. (CNN)

Recently, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons came to Rodman’s defense over being a supporter of North Korea.

Dennis Rodman recently caused a media storm when he told CNN’s Jake Tapper that the American missionary Kenneth Bae was rightly detained by the North Korean government. Speaking to HuffPost Live, Simmons said that “when they ask [Rodman] about politics, it’s over his head.” Simmons added that the U.S. government’s explanation for detained Americans, like Bae, were often smoke-screens for covert activity. Simmons: “Lots of times Americans are kidnapped or held in other countries and we have examples of this — and they say, ‘oh the priest is in prison, and we should get him out,’ and then we find out he’s a CIA agent. We can’t always think that just because it comes out of the mouths of our politicians that it’s true … Y’know, our government is for sale. If you think about the way our country works, every elected official is up for legal bribery.” (Huff Post)

Buzz behind 26-year-old pop star Ke$ha checking into rehab surfaced online in early January.

The Tik Tok singer said in a statement provided by her spokesman Friday that she’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days while she seeks treatment for an undisclosed eating disorder. “I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice,” she said. The 26-year-old vegetarian pop star said she wants to “learn to love myself again, exactly as I am.” No other details were provided. (USA Today)

Not alone in her battle, fellow singer Chris Brown received a three-month rehab sentence back in mid-November following a court appearance.

A judge ordered Chris Brown on Wednesday to spend three months in rehab after reading a report that said a facility discharged the R&B singer because he threw a rock through his mother’s car window. Superior Court Judge James Brandlin also added additional rules for Brown in the coming months, requiring him to perform at least 24 hours of community labor a week and to submit to drug testing as he deals with anger management issues. Brown and his attorney agreed to the terms, which were suggested by probation officials who are overseeing Brown’s sentence for his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna. (USA Today)
