Although Miguel has a handful of individual nods, he said there is even more reason to celebrate with the Washington, D.C.-based nominee.

Miguel also appears on Wale’s Grammy-nominated hit single “Lotus Flower Bomb,” and he didn’t waste any time congratulating him on the honor. “The next time I see him I’m definitely gonna have a drink with him,” he said, “I sent him a text message like, ‘Congrats on your f—ing Grammy nod you mother—-er!” (MTV)

A few days ago, the MMG rapper hopped on Twitter to react to the accomplishment.

“Hol up… Wtf?!!!???? This is unreal,” he tweeted Wednesday (December 5) night.

“Speechless.” (Wale’s Twitter)

Less than 24 hours, Wale issued a formal statement on his achievement.

XXL got in touch with the MMG rapper to see how the news made him feel. “I was speechless when I first heard the news,” he said via e-mail. “”‘No days off’ paid off and I’m just glad I’ve got something to celebrate with my team.” (XXL Magazine)

Both Miguel and Wale face stiff competition in the “Best Rap Song” category courtesy of some high-profile nominees.

Best Rap Song: Nas‘ “Daughetrs”, Wale’s “Lotus Flower Bomb”, G.O.O.D. Music’s “Mercy”, Lil Wayne and Drake’s “The Motto”, Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “N*ggas In Paris”, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa‘s “Young, Wild & Free.” (Grammy)

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony airs Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
