Admitting they have not spoken recently, Wale said he was also slightly disappointed in Cudder.

“When you close with somebody, it’s life, man,” Wale told radio host Funkmaster Flex. “I got friends that’s locked up, I got friends that’s gone. I’m just gonna say I really can’t be mad at youngin’, I pray for him in some instances. I’m disappointed a little bit, but you know, everybody’s got to make their own decisions as men in this world before I knock him — I was friends with him and I still got respect for him. I don’t think there’s nothing to talk about but I’m gonna put him in my prayers though.” (In Flex We Trust)

Last month, Cudi talked about no longer having a bond with Wale.

“I really don’t understand what’s up with this guy, but he’s just somebody I don’t click with anymore. I started making changes in my life and started to realize positive energy around me, and he never really had a good energy. I never felt like he wanted to see me prosper, it was just one of those n*ggas that was envious rather than happy for a n*gga. I could be reading it wrong, but I’m not making beef and rearranging my life. It’s pretty obvious he feels some type of way about it. I’m not into peer mediation and working things out, I’m just trying to provide for my daughter and my family and making music for my fans. I vibe with certain people and some people I don’t.” (Hip Hop N More)

Wale had previously addressed Cudi when the rapper thought he called him out in a past freestyle.

“It’s a line, it’s a freestyle, you know, I could use your name as a metaphor,” Wale told DJ Drama when asked if he intentionally dissed Cudi in a past freestyle. “It’s just rap music. It ain’t no malice out of it. It’s whatever. It’s a line, that’s what rappers do. Nine out of ten rappers wouldn’t take that as a diss…Sometimes I’m the king of diamonds and I like to throw my wallet around. I like to throw around wallets sometimes, you know? It’s just a line. But now, as I’m growing as a man and an artist, you just see what you gotta do and how you gotta carry yourself, and why you keep your circle small. But I appreciate it.” (DJ Drama)

The war of words also caught G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T‘s attention who reached out to Wale in light of the situation.

“I don’t find myself in the middle of it at all. I did speak to Wale because he is a friend of mine. He actually mentioned it ot me and we just had a brief talk. It was basically just keep making your music and whatever happens happens. I told him I wouldn’t really hop on that. They’re both talented and both have their fans. However this thing spawned, who knows? I’ve seen them together at times, so I don’t really know how serious it is. I do know they’re both really talented. We spoke about it and the end result was keep making music.” (Karen Civil)
