Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame has revealed plans to take on the movie scene head-on by acting in his first flick with the likes of hip-hop artist-turned-actor DMX.
While hesitant with some details, Flocka did dish out his character’s name and role.
“Flockavelli 2 comes out on October 5. Make sure they copy that I just signed to William Morris. That talent route, going hard, I’m loving it. Just got my first movie role. A gangsta movie, I gotta do what I know for now. The name of the movie is a question mark, but my name in it is Lil Boogie. I’m gonna be Lil Boogie. I’m not gonna lie, this movie got names. I know for a fact that the other rapper they got in it is DMX. And I think they said Steven Seagal? I’m not sure though.” (Pigeons & Planes)
The rapper’s ex-affiliate Gucci Mane recently revealed his interest in dropping multiple movies this year.
“I had given thought to acting, but I never really had a good enough opportunity or a character who made sense and paralleled my life a little bit. I feel like I’m one of the poster boys for a bad guy in a movie. I feel like I’m a good person to play a bad guy in a movie. I can say that. The enemy of the bad guy. The worst of the bad guys, and that’s exactly what [Archie] was. That intrigued me,” Gucci said in an interview. “My plan is to drop three of my own films, that I produce, under my own company, Brick Squad Films, this year. It’s going to be a big year for me in film. I guess the filmography of Gucci Mane has just begun.” (Vulture)
Fellow Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz recently spilled his guts on wanting to take Hollywood by storm.
Now he’s thinking about what comes next; his second album is in the works, but 2 Chainz says something in the movie realm is also possible. “It sounds like a world I could be part of,” he acknowledges. “We’ve got a couple of scripts we’re looking at. We’ve got a couple endorsements. We’ve been looking at contracts, (publishing) deals. We have a few things going on in our small little world. “I’m just taking it one day at a time. My team is focused. We’re still trying to make an impact in different things. I don’t want to limit myself, so just be expecting some more from 2 Chainz.” (Contra Costa Times)
Coincidentally, Chainz’s “Luv Dem Strippers” collaborator Nicki Minaj recently detailed her desire in joining the ranks of Hollywood’s elite.
Nicki Minaj has set her sights on the big screen. She told Page Six on Oscar night, “I would love to act, it just has to be the right project, the right movie.” “Nothing stereotypical about a singer,” the rapper and “American Idol” judge said. “I have an agent, and we are looking at a couple of scripts, so we’ll see.” (New York Post)
