Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame is known for getting his rap alias from children's cartoon "The Muppet Babies" but the new Muppets big screen flick may have reportedly taken a shot at the rap star.

While nothing has been confirmed, speculation on the new flick taking a subliminal shot at Flocka emerged on the Internet Monday (December 5).

Rather than embrace hip-hop’s biggest Muppet fan, the filmmakers behind the new reboot seem to have taken a quick subliminal shot. Spoiler Alert! About an hour into the film (which opened over Thanksgiving weekend), bad guy Tex Richman (played by Chris Cooper) introduces his crew of fake, evil Muppets called “The Moopets.” Tex Richman: “The Moopets are a hard cynical act for a hard, cynical world.” Fake Miss Piggy: “Hey Fozzie, I want you to meet a friend of mine!” Fake Fozzie Bear: “Waka Waka!” As you can see in the extremely grainy image above, “Waka Waka” is a tougher-looking version of Fozzie Bear with a deep voice and a large stack of gold chains, including a pendant that appears to be a large “WW.” Given his style, it’s hard not to assume that “Waka Waka” is a parody of a rapper. Are the filmmakers trying to diss Waka Flocka for encorporating Fozzie Bear into his thugged-out persona, or is this all a coincidence? (Complex)

Last spring, Flocka was spotted on various occassions rocking a decked out Muppets chain.

Waka Flocka Flame — Check Out My $100,000 Muppet. Waka Flocka Flame wasn’t nominated for an Oscar — but the rapper was still rollin’ around L.A. with a giant gold statue around his neck … a $100,000 replica of Fozzie Bear from The Muppets. FYI — Mr. Flame says he got his nickname from Fozzie’s catch phrase … “wocka wocka wocka.” (TMZ)

The rapper’s alias reportedly stems from Muppets character Fozzie Bear.

Juaquin Malphurs was born in South Jamaica, Queens, New York in 1986. His family eventually settled in Riverdale, Georgia. He is the son of Debra Antney, Gucci Mane‘s former manager and CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment. The name “Waka” was given to him by his cousin, after the Muppets character Fozzie Bear’s catch phrase, “Waka Waka”. The name “Flocka Flame” was given to him by rapper Gucci Mane. (Wikipedia)

Outside of Muppets talk, Flocka is currently putting together his new solo album, Triple F Life.

“It felt like a rushed project. I’m going to do it first quarter (2012) because I need to put my all into it,” Waka Flocka continued on his recently pushed back album, “Triple F Life.” “I felt like I was trying to please the label and not the people that really listen to the music.” Flocka also hinted at another breakthrough guest spot on his upcoming album: DMX. “I’m trying to put a song together with DMX; he needs to get back on the scene!” With 2011 drawing to a close, Waka Flocka offered a bold prediction for the new year. “I’m gonna be the No. 1 artist of the year. That’s not a prediction, that’s a fact!” he proclaimed. (Billboard)
