Southern rapper Waka Flocka Flame has turned down the idea his North Carolina tour bus shooting incident earlier this week had anything to do with him or his camp being targeted.

According to a Waka rep, the rapper does not believe he was on a hit list.

A rep for Waka’s camp says his entourage was attacked first, and responded by returning fire. Asked if Waka was an intended target, the rep said, “No not at all, he’s protected, he didn’t think it had anything to do with him whatsoever” “I think whoever you are, whether you’re a big tough rapper or Britney Spears and shots ring out, its going to frighten you to some degree.” According to WCNC, police are processing the car from the high speed chase in hopes of finding evidence that helps find the shooters. The suspects got away, leaving the car in close proximity to the residence where the only victim lives. (RumorFix)

A day after the shoot-out, Waka’s mother, Debra Antney, stepped forward and gave the inside scoop on what went down.

“So I just wanted to address the incident in North Carolina, the tour bus issue that’s taking place now,” Antney said. “To my understanding, what has happened was there were random cars that began shooting, nobody could figure what they were shooting at. The bus had gotten hit four times, security followed appropriate protocol and returned fire. And to my understanding, there was one person thus far which was the assailant which was hit. Waka wasn’t hit, Waka wasn’t out there, he wasn’t in the tour bus. The bus was actually out there getting the system done. It’s a system being placed in the bus — it never ceases to amaze me how my phones were going really crazy and everybody’s [saying], ‘Oh Waka got shot,’ — or I’m reading the comments of what people are saying and he didn’t do anything. He wasn’t there, he didn’t do anything.” (Mizay Entertainment)

She also made sure to remind media of her son’s non-involvement in the shooting.

“The news sounds better when you place his name in there instead of talking about what really happened,” she added. “Because there were a lot of other people out there whose vehicles was hit. My phone is ringing by many bystanders that are standing out there that seem to know, also, what was going on — but me talking to my own team and finding out what’s going on, it is safe to say we took no part in this. We had nothing to do with this.” (Mizay Entertainment)

Following Wednesday’s incident, Waka and his entourage were detained by local authorities.

Five days after headlining a hip-hop show at the Tabernacle, Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame may be in trouble again. This time, the incident involves a shootout in North Carolina. The rapper, his brother and another person — someone not involved in Waka Flocka’s entourage — all have been detained after a shooting outside the Car Stereo Warehouse in east Charlotte.
