According to Vado, he became too relaxed sitting atop ample amounts of money during his time at Interscope and said it had a slightly negative impact on his hunger.

“Vado’s been getting his weight up but also getting my situation right, making sure the next moves the best move,” Vado said, referring to himself. “I was just making sure I go where I need to be and who’s going to take me to the motherland. I was signed to Interscope. It was just a standstill. I asked [to get out]. I asked. Interscope’s under reconstruction, so nine times out of ten, they were probably going to let me go eventually, so before they did, I asked first. … [The money,] that’s what got me a little too comfortable. Meaning, when I left, you still sitting on some good change, your grind is not there as much because you all right. So, I had to realize, once that started going down and you realize ain’t no money coming in, these bills are six to seven thousand a month, then it’s like it’s wake-up time.” (Sway In The Morning)

Back in January, the New York rapper announced a new partnership with DJ Khaled‘s We The Best label.

“It’s going down, man, it’s about to be on and crazy,” Vado confirmed in an interview. “Everybody got the word in, Khaled just, reached [out] ASAP. He’s family. You know what I’m saying? Of course, you know what I’m saying, we got the same vision and that’s to take over and go straight to the top and stay there and he wants to get me there and I’ma let him.” (This Is 50)

A few days prior, Vado hinted at possibly joining Khaled’s growing team.

“Shout out Khaled, shout out to the We The Best team, shout out to Mavado, shout out to Ace Hood, you already know,” Vado said in an interview. “Yeah, you know, it’s potential over there. It’s definitely potential over there. The potential is high. But you know, there’s a few people out there reaching. It’s not official yet. Nah, it’s just, hey, you ain’t know LeBron [James] was going to Miami until he really went to Miami, but you heard it all in the air. Khaled knew me for years, man. He knew me from the game, theJae Millz era. It’s definitely, there’s definitely close relations right there. He knows my family, I know his family.” (VLAD TV)

Rumors of a new record deal heated up the online music blogs earlier the same month.

After announcing earlier this month that he had parted ways with his label home Interscope Records, Vado has reportedly inked a deal with DJ Khaled’s, We The Best label. Last night, the frequent Cam’ron collaborator took to Twitter announcing, “Looks like I’m taking my talents 2 South Beach #WTB.” Followed shortly thereafter by a retweet of a follower who typed, “@VADO_MH COMING OUT WITH HIS NEW TAPE AND SIGNING WITH KHALID #ITSAGOODYEAR.” (XXL Mag)
