R&B singer Usher has finally spoken out days after five-year-old son Usher Raymond V nearly lost his life from a freak pool accident.
The 34-year-old issued a public statement Thursday (August 8) to thank the people responsible for saving his son’s life.
Usher has broken his silence since the hospitalization of his 5-year-old son, thanking the men who saved the little boy’s life. “I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock. I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews,” the singer said in a statement. “They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.” (People)
According to new reports, the five-year-old could be released in just a few days.

Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Raymond has filed for custody of their two children following Monday’s pool accident which left their five-year-old Usher V in a coma. Tameka, who divorced the 34-year-old singer in November 2009, filed legal documents on Tuesday asking for an emergency hearing on grounds Usher is allegedly creating a ‘dangerous environment’ for the children. Tameka is allegedly claiming Usher is ‘abdicating’ his parental responsibilities by letting other people care for their two children,’ report the website. Early Tuesday afternoon, reports of Usher Raymond V being treated in an Atlanta hospital emerged.
Usher’s five-year-old son was rushed to the intensive care unit of an Atlanta hospital after a horrific swimming pool accident. Usher Raymond V nearly drowned after getting his arm wedged into drain of the family swimming pool 6 p.m. Monday evening. Though the boy is still in the hospital, doctors expect a full recovery.
